All roads (and rivers) lead home

By now, you've probably heard about the airliner that had to make a belly landing in the middle of the Hudson River. Just hours after all 155 people on board were pulled from scene, most every high profile government official has joined those affected in calling the pilot a hero.

It turns out that pilot, Captain C.B. "Sully" Sullenburger was raised in Denison, Texas.

Just after our 6pm broadcast, my office phone rang and for once I'm glad I answered. On the other end of the line was a frail sounding woman who struggled to speak to me. I could tell she had trouble communicating, but I was patient. She was eager to tell me that as a young man, Mr. Sullenburger learned to fly at Sherman's municipal airport. It was her late husband that served as his teacher all those years ago.

That's one of many stories we've heard tonight so far, and I'm sure there will be more to come in the next few days.

The overused phrase "It's a small world," certainly applies to this story.

Crash...

As much as I like that song by Dave Matthews, I don't like crashes by any other name. This is especially true when it comes to laptop computers like the family computer shown above.

This time it was my blackberry. It happened while I was attempting a software upgrade. Sometime during the usual process, an error came up on the computer screen and then the phone's display turned white and refused to work no longer. Its taken 4 hours to reload software, and another 3 hours to get the phone's features back to where I like them

There was a major casualty in all this. My phone book of contacts was well maintained but not backed-up. I didn't have to start completely over , but it was close.

So you may want to call, text, or email me if you still want to hear from me from time to time.
